The Delizie

The Delizie Estensi’ form a monumental system of court residences surrounded by gardens and parks that the Este family built in the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance period in the city of Ferrara and in the surrounding area. These estates, along with the cultural landscape that surrounds them, are now the centrepiece of the World Heritage Site entitled "The Renaissance city of Ferrara and its Po Delta".

The motivation that appears on the acknowledgment by the UNESCO Committee states that "... The Este ducal residences in the Po Delta illustrate the influence of Renaissance culture on the natural landscape in an exceptional manner...".
